8. CRC Values
But, you are not yet completely out of the woods. As you click OK to that message (without creating a log, it will be done automatically if you followed the setup guide to the letter), the CRC values for the tracks will show in the EAC main window. There may be CRC mismatches even if EAC reported that "no errors occurred".
Such mismatches indicate that EAC read the track differently the second time around. This means that either the test or the copy (or maybe both!) was read incorrectly. Matching test and read (= copy) CRC values show that EAC could read the track twice in a consistent way. Matching CRC values indicate that you can be very very sure that the ripped copy of the track is an exact copy of the CD track.
If there are CRC mismatches, there is nothing to it but to rip the CD again. Sometimes CRC mismatches happen because the CD is stained or scratched, so it's a good idea to take the CD out and give it appropriate treatment (clean and/or repair it) before ripping it again. Read here and here about how to repair scratched CDs. Then start from step 3 again. EAC will remember edited CD information (step 2), but you need to detect the gaps again.
Also, a CD that will not be properly ripped with one drive may be ripped with no problem with another one, so if you have access to more than one drive, try with the other one. Of course the other drive must be properly set up, too, see Configuration - Drive Options (Setup, step 5).
N.B. CRC mismatches may happen if you run other resource-demanding programs at the same time as you rip, so you might succeed by walking away from the computer while EAC works.
