7. Status Report
If you checked "Show status dialog after extraction" (in EAC Setup Guide, step 3b), you will see a status report when you click "OK" to the "Audio Extraction Complete" message.
The words you want to see are "No errors occurred". Take this as instant information about possible errors - even if there are no errors, you still have to check the log later. It is also nice if it says "All tracks accurately ripped", but your rip may be OK even if it does not. See Comments on AccurateRip Results.
- If there are no errors, click "OK". If there are errors, you may want to read the information about them before clicking "OK".
Do not click "Create Log". The log file will be created automatically if you have followed the Setup Guide to the letter (step 3c, "Automatically create status report after extraction").
If there are errors, there is nothing to it but to rip the CD again. Sometimes errors happen because the CD is stained or scratched, so it's a good idea to take the CD out and give it appropriate treatment (clean and/or repair it) before ripping it again. Read here and here about how to repair scratched CDs. Then start from step 3 again. EAC will remember edited CD information (step 2), but you need to detect the gaps again.
Also, a CD that will not be properly ripped with one drive may be ripped with no problem with another one, so if you have access to more than one drive, try with the other one. Of course the other drive must be properly set up, too, see Configuration - Drive Options (Setup, step 5).
