5. Test and Copy
Now it's time to start EAC ripping to wave files and compressing to FLAC files.
You can do this in different ways, all with the same result:
- Select all the tracks, click "Test & Copy Selected Tracks - Compressed..." in the Action menu:
or
- Select all the tracks, right-click and choose "Test & Copy Selected Tracks - Compressed"
(In fact, if no tracks are selected (as in the first picture), EAC will automatically select them all.)
Make sure that you really choose "Compressed", or EAC will only rip the files to wave, but not start flac.exe in order to compress the files to FLAC. (This will also happen if you try to use the shortcut "Shift+F6", but fail to press "Shift".)
"Test & Copy" means that EAC will read the tracks twice, first testing the track and saving the CRC value for the test, then reading the track one more time in order to copy it from the CD to your computer. It saves the CRC value that results from copying the track, too. If the two CRC values match, you can be almost 100% sure that the track was correctly ripped.
